Become a Breathwork Facilitator that is Trauma-Informed and Responsive

Processing trauma is a common occurrence in conscious connected breathwork (CCB), and the practice can be an incredibly powerful tool for supporting recovery. However, working with trauma requires care, skill, and a deep understanding of the nervous system and how to effectively support survivors. Without proper training, facilitators risk leaving participants feeling worse or even retraumatized.
Our breathwork facilitator training takes trauma seriously!
You’ll explore developmental and intergenerational trauma, acute and chronic trauma, complex PTSD, collective trauma, and ACEs. Alongside this, you’ll learn trauma-responsive practices that ensure your facilitation is safe, effective, and deeply supportive for every participant.

2. Tuition & Financial Options
What is the Tuition?
We’ve intentionally kept our tuition lower than other GPBA-certified breathwork facilitator training programs to ensure it remains accessible to all. The cost for our 450-hour trauma-informed training is $5,800 USD. See the section below for our breathwork training payment plans and financial options.
Please note that tuition covers all training hours, including the in-person segment, but does not include on-site accommodation for the 8-day intensive. We make every effort to keep on-site costs as accessible and reasonable as possible.

3. Location & Format
Where Does the In-Person Breathwork Training Segment Take Place?
Our 8-day in-person breathwork training takes place in the stunning coastal towns of Cabo or Sayulita, Mexico. Both locations are conveniently near major international airports and provide the ideal environment for deep personal growth and transformation during our immersive training intensives.
What is the Format of the Training?
Our training includes self-study modules and breathwork practicums that you can complete on your own schedule over the course of 12 months.
It also features seminar modules, which you review prior to our biweekly 2-hour Zoom calls. During these calls, we dive deeper into the seminar topics, conduct breakout room activities to enhance learning, hold mentor check-ins, and provide opportunities to ask questions and discuss your experiences. These sessions are spread out over 10 months and culminate with the 8-day in-person intensive toward the end of the program.
This unit includes:
- 20 live biweekly interactive Zoom sessions (2 hours each) over a 10-month period
- Bite-sized video lessons
- Practical activities you can complete at your own pace before each seminar
- An 8-day in-person breathwork facilitator training in Mexico, scheduled for November 2026. This immersive, experiential segment is designed to deepen your skills and introduce advanced facilitation tools, including TRE, advanced touch techniques, Reiki, and sound therapy.
Does this Training Offer Live Virtual Sessions?
If you’re looking for a Breathwork Facilitator Training that offers live virtual sessions, than you’re in the right place! We hold biweekly seminars on Zoom, where we explore the topic of the week, break into small groups to practice, and check in with your mentor about your personal journey and progress in the training.
We’re also the only breathwork training school that offers five free live virtual breathwork sessions every week. Since the inner journey is central to our training, we place a strong emphasis on experiencing breathwork yourself on a regular basis. You can join any of our live weekly sessions or choose from our learning library, which contains hundreds of guided, themed connected breathwork journeys.
4. Breathwork Facilitator Training Certification & Accreditation
Is this a Trauma-informed Breathwork Facilitator Training Certification with a Focus on Trauma-Sensitive Methods?
Yes, our breathwork facilitator training certification is trauma-informed and responsive, which is crucial because conscious connected breathing involves working with individuals’ traumas and subconscious programming, making them particularly vulnerable. To hold space effectively and safely, it’s essential to undergo a trauma-informed breathwork certification.
Our trauma-sensitive methods and modules are taught by professional therapist and facilitator Sasja. They cover topics such as developmental trauma, birthing trauma, ACES, intergenerational trauma, the five main types of trauma, and applied trauma techniques for breathworkers.
Is the Training Certified by the GPBA?
Yes, our dual-accredited breathwork facilitator training is certified by the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance, which upholds the highest standards for training programs. Even if you choose not to train with us, we recommend selecting a school with this certification to ensure you receive a comprehensive and high-quality training.
What is the GPBA and Why Should I Choose a Breathwork Training School that is Accredited By It?
The GPBA stands for the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance, an international organization that sets ethical and professional standards for breathwork facilitators and schools.
Why choose a GPBA-accredited school:
- Safety and Ethics: GPBA accreditation ensures the school follows strict safety protocols and ethical guidelines for working with clients.
- Quality Training: Accredited programs meet high standards for curriculum, instructor experience, and hands-on practice.
- Professional Recognition: Completing a GPBA-accredited program adds credibility to your certification, making it recognized globally.
- Support and Community: Accredited schools are connected to a wider network of facilitators and resources for ongoing professional development.
- Future-Proofing Your Practice: Breathwork has grown in popularity quickly, and regulations are not yet fully in place. However, the field is moving in that direction. Training with a non-GPBA school may mean you aren’t eligible for certification or insurance recognition in the future.
Choosing a GPBA-accredited program helps ensure your training is safe, recognized, and positioned for long-term professional credibility.
Is this a Unity Breathwork or a Breathing Space Certificate?
The course leader for this training is Megan Ashton, founder of Unity Breathwork. Megan has over 8 years of experience as a breathwork facilitator and 20 years as a wellness researcher and writer. She had also worked with several leading international breathwork training schools before becoming a teacher herself, giving her an unparalleled depth of knowledge in the field.
The training school is Make Some Breathing Space, an internationally recognized school that is GPBA-certified. Breathing Space has several course leaders, each teaching the core curriculum in their own unique way. Megan recognized the value of an in-person segment, so her training is hybrid, combining live online learning with an in-person intensive, while other Breathing Space cohorts are fully online.
Make Some Breathing Space emphasizes continued support, empowerment, the inner journey, strong community, and integrity. Its founder, Ben, sits on the GPBA Board of Ethics, advocating for safe, ethical practices across the breathwork field.
The Breathing Space curriculum is already incredibly robust at 400 hours, but Megan is passionate about giving her students the most comprehensive training possible, providing all the tools they need to really accel as breathwork faciltiators. Her cohort combines all the benefits of Breathing Space with the added value of in-person learning and Megan’s infusion of advanced facilitation skills and knowledge.
Upon graduation, you will receive a 450-hour double-accreditation certificate from both Breathing Space and Unity Breathwork.
Is Unity Breathwork Training Certified By the International Breathwork Foundation (IBF)?
Yes Unity Breathwork is certified by the International Breathwork Foundation (IBF), a global nonprofit that supports and connects breathwork practitioners, provides resources and training, and promotes personal and collective transformation through conscious breathing.
There is some confusion though, as many people believe the IBF accredits training schools. In fact, anyone can become a member of the IBF by paying the annual membership fee, but membership does not guarantee that a practitioner’s training is comprehensive. The only governing body that ensures training programs are thorough and safe is the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance (GPBA). When choosing a training school, we strongly recommend selecting one from the GPBA’s list of certified schools.
Which Companies Offer Accredited Breathwork Facilitator Training Courses?
Unity Breathwork offers an accredited Breathwork Facilitator Training Course that is dually certified by the GPBA. However, we’re not the only school, there are currently over 100 GPBA-accredited schools, and you can you can find a full list here: https://breathworkalliance.com/member-directory/.
Tip: Select ‘certified school’ in the search box on their page to narrow it down to accredited training courses only.
5. Career & Next Steps
What’s the Difference Between a Breathwork Facilitator Training and a Breathwork Practitioner Training?
Currently, there is no global regulatory body overseeing connected breathwork and its various offshoots. As a result, the terminology is not standardized, leading to different terms often referring to the same concepts. For instance, while some breathwork schools designate their graduates as “breathwork facilitators,” others use the term “breathwork practitioners,” both referring to the same role. Additionally, some schools implement a tiered training structure, where first-level students are called “breathwork facilitators,” and those who pursue further training are referred to as “breathwork practitioners,” suggesting that practitioners have more experience.
How Much is a Typical Breathwork Facilitator Salary?
We’ve seen facilitators successfully run group sessions with 20, 30, or even 40 participants. At just $50 per person for a 90-minute workshop, potential earnings can exceed $1,000 for a single class. While building to that point requires time and dedication, it is an achievable goal. One of our graduates has even led online breathwork sessions for thousands of participants. While we don’t track individual earnings—since financial gain is not our primary motivation—we are proud of her and all our students who are bringing this work into the world.
Our 450-hour training program is highly comprehensive, with no need for an ‘upgrade’ to use the term “breathwork practitioner.” Although we typically use “breathwork facilitator,” as it is the more traditional term, you are welcome to identify as a “breathwork practitioner” if you prefer after training with us.While becoming a millionaire as a breathwork facilitator might not be the norm, the potential to build a fulfilling and sustainable career in this field is absolutely within reach.
Connected breathwork is touted as the fastest and most effective pathway for healing and personal upliftment. If you are dedicated to sharing this work with others, the financial rewards will follow. And there has never been a better time to become a certified breathwork facilitator. By starting now, you position yourself ahead of the curve, giving yourself the opportunity to establish a name before connected breathwork gains broader recognition and competition increases.

At just $50 per person for a 90-minute workshop, your potential earnings could be upwards of $1000 for a single class. While building to that point takes time and dedication, it’s an achievable goal. One of our graduates has even fun an online breathwork for thousands if people, we didn’t ask her how much she made from that as thats not our primary motivation for what we do, but were proud of her and all of our amazing students who are brining this to the world.

Does this Breathwork Facilitator Training Program Include Business Building Resources?
Like it or not, being a breathwork facilitator involves entrepreneurship, and we understand this. That’s why our Breathwork Facilitator Training program includes business-building resources and modules. The founders of this dual-accreditation training have collectively built breathwork programs in over 12 locations—from small towns to family communities to large cities and corporations. Through trial and error, they have discovered what works and what doesn’t, and they share all of that knowledge with you in the training so you don’t have to guess.
You’ll learn about marketing and image creation, managing email lists, creating waivers, obtaining insurance, and getting listed on Google Maps, Airbnb Experiences and more. By the time you graduate, you’ll not only have the knowledge and skills to be an inspiring facilitator but also the practical tools to bring your offerings to the world and build a successful breathwork practice.

Annie: Megan has been an incredible teacher on my journey to becoming a breathwork facilitator. She puts her whole heart and soul into teaching, and it truly shows. She has such a beautiful way of encouraging and empowering us…

— and also gently pushing us past our comfort zones, helping us release fear and step fully into ourselves.
Her knowledge of breathwork is outstanding, both from a scientific perspective and from a spiritual one. What inspires me the most is that she continues to learn and grow herself, always humble, always curious — with absolutely no ego. That humility and dedication ripple out and inspire her students to do the same.
I can highly, highly recommend Megan as a teacher. If you are lucky enough to have her guiding you, you are in the very best hands!
Amy: The best breathwork facilitor training out there – it so comprehensive and in-depth and the wisdom and confidence you receive from it, is unreal! It’s such a supportive community, and the founder of the school is so down to earth and passionate as well…

My teacher for this program was Megan and she is incredible! She is so passionate and so full of wisdom. And I feel so blessed and lucky that I got to be a part of her group and a part of this program.
I have done many other programs in the holistic realm and there is not a single program that has made me feel like I can actually step out and do it with confidence…until now. I’m so excited to get out there. It’s a beautiful journey not only for everything you will learn as a facilitator but also for your own personal growth. It’s truly incredible. If you’re wondering if it’s the right time, honor your nudge and go for it!!
Mitchell: “This trauma informed breathwork training has opened my eyes to what’s possible, not only within myself but the innate desire for change and goodness within every human being…

I am a completely new person compared to who I was when I signed up, and man its hard work, but its such a beautiful thing to have the opportunity to grow alongside everyone else on this journey. Making mistakes, learning from them, and rediscovering what it means to be human. Thank you Megan!”
Kikky: Megan is a true gem! Her breathwork sessions, retreats and facilitator training is on another level…

The breathwork facilitator training was incredibly comprehensive and a life-changing training! I went from a complete beginner in connected breathwork to opening my own breathwork and meditation center in Dallas. Along the way, I explored deeply with strangers who quickly became dear friends. I can’t recommend it enough!
Amanda: This training gave me the confidence to step into my power as a breathwork facilitator. The community and support are unmatched.…the training has been life-changing…
It’s not only allowed me to confidently hold space for others, with their breath, their emotions, and feelings but it’s also allowed me to delve into my own breath and learn about myself. Its also distinctive because it offers a second-year teacher training program that equips you with the skills to take on apprentices and teach them to become breathwork facilitators!”
Tim: “I can’t express how great the balance between substance and care is in this breathwork training. They are guiding you through your own personal process as they are teaching you how to help others with their personal process…
I loved the emphasis on the inner journey, as you can only guide others to the depths you yourself have been through in breathwork. It was truly life changing for me, and I graduated with so much confidence and knowledge.
I also love that I really feel equipped to handle all the unforseen things that can come up in breathwork and to hold a really safe and empowering space for all of my breathers. This training was such a gift to myself and getting to facilitate is now the delicious icing on the cake.”
