Embrace the Journey: My Breathwork Facilitator Training Experience

Breathwork has a profound way of tapping into the body’s innate wisdom, guiding us through deep emotional and spiritual transformations. As the founder of Unity Breathwork, I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible power of conscious breathing, both in my personal journey and in the transformative experiences of others. Today, I want to share a bit about my breathwork training program, what it entails, and how it can be a life-changing path for both those looking to facilitate and those looking to heal.

A Foundation Built on Healing and Connection

My journey with breathwork began 7 years ago when I had my first session. The experience was nothing short of transformative and opened my eyes to the depth of healing that breath can facilitate. This experience inspired me to bring this powerful tool to the world and I’ve made it my mission to help make it as accessible and popular as yoga.

As I trained under my mentor, Ben, the founder of Make Some Breathing Space, I developed a deep appreciation for how connected breathwork can access suppressed emotions and trauma stored in the body. This experience, combined with several years of facilitating breathwork worldwide and writing for six international breathwork schools, inspired me to begin teaching breathwork myself. Through my exposure to various training programs, I realized that what Ben had created at Breathing Space was truly unique and powerful. I honestly couldn’t imagine building a better program, so instead of starting my own, I chose to become a teacher for Breathing Space.

The only thing I felt was missing at Breathing Space was an in-person training element, so I transformed the certification into a Hybrid offering. This now includes the same comprehensive curriculum, but with the addition of a 7-day experiential training segment, ensuring a well-rounded, hands-on learning experience.

Trauma-Informed and Comprehensive Training for Aspiring Breathwork Facilitators

Our trauma-informed breathwork facilitator training is designed to cultivate facilitators who are not only skilled in the techniques but also deeply connected to the emotional, spiritual, and therapeutic aspects of the practice. Our curriculum is grounded in the understanding that healing goes beyond the physical body; it integrates the mind, body, and spirit. Our 400-hour breathwork certification program provides a comprehensive and well-rounded path for aspiring facilitators—whether you want to lead group sessions, work one-on-one with clients, or offer sessions online or in person. We prepare you for all of it.

What Makes the Hybrid Breathwork Facilitator Training Special?

Our breathwork training is different because we don’t just teach techniques. We create a container for transformation. Through a combination of in-person and online sessions, as well as a 7-day in-person segment in Sayulita, Mexico, we offer an immersive experience that combines theory with real-world application. It’s a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, where you learn how to guide others in healing while deepening your own practice. You will go on a deep inner journey which will enable you to hold-space authentically for the wide-range of intense experiences that can occur in breathwork. You will also cutivate your Felt Sense (bodily intuition) which will be your superpower as a Breathwork facilitator.

Our program is GPBA-certified, which ensures that our training meets the highest standards in the breathwork community. But beyond the certification, our focus is on creating a community of like-minded individuals who support one another through their healing journeys and continued growth even after graduation. We emphasize the importance of personal development and self-care as part of the facilitator’s journey. After all, to be an effective breathwork facilitator, one must first be committed to their own healing and growth.

The Heart of the Practice: Inner Healing and Trauma Release

As facilitators, we hold the space for others to release deeply buried emotions, trauma, and limiting beliefs. Breathwork allows participants to access these layers of stored emotional energy through conscious connected breathing. The results can be profound: emotional release, trauma healing, and a deeper connection to oneself.

I believe breathwork creates the ideal environment for healing because it bypasses the mind’s control mechanisms, allowing us to tap directly into the body’s innate wisdom. The most rewarding part of being a breathwork facilitator is witnessing people move through their pain and emerge on the other side with a sense of empowerment, clarity, and peace. This sense of transformation is equally fulfilling when I teach breathwork facilitators—seeing my students overcome their fears, doubts, and limiting programming, and step fully into their power and light.

A Path of Empowerment and Support

As a trainer, my role is not only to teach techniques but to provide ongoing support, mentorship, and encouragement. I’ve seen the most success when students feel safe and empowered to fully step into their role as breathwork facilitators. The heart of our breathwork training program is rooted in community and connection. We provide opportunities for students to connect with one another, learn from their experiences, and offer each other support.

One of the most unique aspects of our breathwork facilitator training is that we provide a platform for students to step into their role as teachers. After receiving your breathwork certification, you have the opportunity to join our second-year leadership training. Upon completion, you can take on apprentices and mentor them one-on-one as they work through our curriculum. This not only offers a deeply rewarding and soul-nourishing experience, but it also provides a valuable additional income source.
